In light of recent resignations within the Citizens Movement for Change (CMC), Political Leader Hon. Musa Hassan Bility has issued a statement calling for calm and restraint among party members.
The resignations include two ranking members, one from the Diaspora Affairs and another from the Minnesota Chapter in the United States.
Hon. Bility emphasized that such occurrences are a normal part of any growing institution’s democratic journey.
“In politics, such occurrences are entirely normal and should not be seen as crises but as part of the democratic journey of any growing institution,” he said in a statement over the weekend.
The CMC leader has therefore directed a complete moratorium on public or private reactions from party members, leaders, or affiliates regarding the resignations.
“We must respond to such developments with grace and restraint,” he stressed.
Hon. Bility reiterated the party’s core values of respect for individual rights and choices, adding that the decision to resign is a democratic right that must be honored with maturity and civility.
“Let us remember that one of our core values as the Citizens Movement for Change is respect for individual rights and choices,” he said.
The CMC is committed to strengthening its structures and expanding its reach, and Hon. Bility urged members to stay focused on the larger vision of transforming Liberia through unity, respect, discipline, and progress.
He stressed that “As we continue to strengthen our structures and expand our reach, moments like these will arise again. Let us handle them with wisdom and calmness, staying focused on the larger vision of transforming Liberia through the values that define the CMC — unity, respect, discipline, and progress.”
