MONROVIA – It seems the weight of the political hammer of the ruling Unity Party establishment is raging ferociously without measure, and those targeted or feeling targeted are scurrying all over the place. Nimba County Representative Musa Hasan Bility, who is the political leader of the newly organized Citizens Movement for Change (CMC), is seemingly one of such persons, and he is sounding the alarm—without trembling. The Analyst reports.
The political leader of Liberia’s newest but impactful political party, the Citizens Movement for Change (CMC), Musa Hassan Bility, has once again accused the ruling party of going the extra mile to fabricate lies against him, probe into his life and businesses, allegedly in an attempt to smear him, slow down the momentum of the CMC and silence the vision that is now awakening the hopes of the Liberian people.
In his regular Letter from Saclepea, the Nimba County District #8 Representative, who has since made known his intention of contesting the 2029 presidential election on the ticket of the CMC, says the “underhanded actions” of the Unity Party against his person and his political institution leave him with a heavy but strong heart.
He wrote: “I see them. I see them sniffing around, whispering in corners, circling people I know, acting as though they are on a grand mission. They are probing into my life, digging into my businesses, fabricating stories, and trying to cook up lies to break me down. They search for anything they can use, any excuse to smear me, to slow the Citizens Movement for Change, and to silence a vision that has begun to awaken the hopes of the Liberian people.”
The said his opponents are asking how he makes his living, how is he spending so much of his own resources on the people.
“To them, it is impossible unless it is dishonest,” he continued. “But that is because we are not the same. They cannot understand that happiness for me does not come from hoarding wealth in banks or living in luxury while others suffer. My joy comes from giving, from seeing lives uplifted, from sharing what God has blessed me with.”
Why he serves humanity
Giving a backdrop to his humble upbringing and the reason why he opts to be of service to humanity, the CMC political leader said he grew up dirt poor in Saclepea, surrounded by struggle and hardship.
“I saw my parents fight for survival, I watched neighbors die from malaria because they could not afford the most basic medical attention. Those memories never left me. They became my compass. They made me into a man who cannot eat well while others go hungry, who cannot enjoy health while children around him are sick. That is why I give. That is why I serve. It is not a choice. It is who I am.
“And so I say to them: keep searching. Search through my life, search through my records, search through my past. You will find nothing but the story of a man who has worked hard for over thirty years, and who is proud to share the fruits of that labor with his people. That is my only crime, and that is my only truth,” Bility said, noting that he has no fear, because his strength does not come from hiding but from standing tall in the light of his vision.
“I believe in that vision. I believe in the Citizens Movement for Change. I believe in the Liberian people. And I know that no lie, no plot, and no conspiracy will ever be stronger than the will of a people who have decided to take back their future.
“So let them keep searching. Let them keep plotting. On October 9, 2029, they will meet the verdict of the Liberian people, and it will not be in their favor,” Representative Bility said confidently.
