Family Announces Fallen James N. Davies Funeral Arrangements

MONROVIA – The Davies family wishes to inform the government of Liberia and the general public of the itinerary for the burial of Mr. James N. Davies who passed away on June 1, 2025 in India, after a brief period of illness. 

The announced signed by Darlington Davies, son of the deceased on behalf of the family, said the late James N. Davies has been a long standing Liberian businessman who made significant contributions to the current and past governments of Liberia.

He leaves to mourn, his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends in and out of Liberia.

The family outlines the itinerary leading to his burial to include: On Thursday, July 17, 2025 at 8:00p.m. silent wake keeping will be held at the Victory Temple Church, Paynesville, Red Light, Republic of Liberia.

“Please take note that all tributes including institutions, friends and communities will take place during the wake keeping.  Only those printed in the program will pay tributes at the Funeral,” said the announcement.

On Friday, July 18, 2025 at the hour of 8:00a.m., the body will be removed from the Samuel A. Stryker Funeral Home on 24th Street Sinkor and taken to the James N. Davies Block Factory on the Japanese Freeway for a brief farewell.

On the same Friday, July 18, 2025 at 9:30 a.m the body will proceed under police escort to the Paynesville City Hall

The funeral service will take place at 10.00 am at the Paynesville City Hall, Paynesville, Republic of Liberia.

Internment follows at Shiata Flowers Cemetery in Careysburg, Montserrado County, Republic of Liberia.

The family announcement also said the funeral service would comprise of mostly songs of praise to God, as was the wish of the deceased. At said funeral service, there would be tributes only from the President of Liberia, Joseph Boakai, former President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, the Unity Party, the Church, and the family.
