Dr. Cassell under investigation, PLP Confirms -Urges Partisans, Citizens to Remain Calm, Motivated

In the wake of unsubstantiated reports that the Political Leader and Vision Bearer of the People’s Liberation Party (PLP), Dr. Daniel E. Cassell, is under investigation in the United States of America on fraud charges, the PLP has come out to officially inform its partisans and the Liberian public that there is actually an active and ongoing investigation involving Dr. Cassell in the USA.

In a press statement issued Thursday, the PLP said they have been made aware of an active and ongoing investigation involving their standard bearer Dr. Daniel E. Cassell in the United States of America, and that the party is arranging to send a delegation which will include legal experts to the USA to ascertain information and determine the party’s next course of action.

“As a political party, we pride ourselves in the rule of law. Therefore, as we gather more information, we will notify the public in keeping with our commitment to transparency,” the PLP statement issued under the signature of National Chairman Tapple E. Doe said.

Meanwhile, the People’s Liberation Party says it continues to operate with all of its structures in place, and that the National Chairman, Hon. Tapple E. Doe will continue to lead the party.

“We call on all our partisans, well-wishers, sympathizers, political allies, etc. to remain calm and motivated as we move towards 2023,” the statement proclaimed.

It can be recalled that news started flooding the Internet on Wednesday to the effect that Dr. Cassell had been arrested on Thursday, March 17 by the Clayton County Sheriff’s office for fraud.

The founder of Kwenyan Professional Health Services, a mental health/behavioral and substance abuse agency, was accused of billing clients multiple times at his mental health clinic.

The philanthropist-turned politician previously worked as a Behavioral Specialist Consultant in the Philadelphia and Bucks County areas in the United States.

In 2008, he became licensed as a professional counselor in Pennsylvania and became a licensed clinical drugs and alcohol counselor in New Jersey in 2009, which enabled him to begin his career in private practice.

According to sources, Dr. Cassell’s medical agency in Pennsylvania was allegedly involved in double billing medical agencies, accumulating up to U$3.6 million through the scheme, which he used to finance his Dr. Daniel E. Cassell Foundation that carried out numerous humanitarian activities in Liberia.

One of the staunchest critics of the George Weah-led government, Dr. Cassell who was initially overlooked for being a political neophyte due to his late entry onto the Liberian politician scene, has endeared himself with the downtrodden masses because of his bludgeoning humanitarian projects that have been impacting the lives of ordinary Liberians.
