MONROVIA –Liberia’s victory in obtaining the United Nations Security Council non-permanent seat must have been an audacious and memorable feat, which no doubt puts the 22-year postwar nation back in the enviable spotlight of international approval. But some pundits think wining the seat is one thing and living to the expectations of people at home and around the globe while serving is clearly another thing. And there are fears or cautions already in the offing. Businessman turned politician, Alexander Benedict Cummings is among the skeptical people, who are forewarning the ruling establishment to be aware, as THE ANALYST reports.

Alexander B. Cummings, a prominent figure in Liberian politics, today hailed Liberia’s successful bid for a non-permanent seat on the United Nations Security Council, calling it a proud and historic moment for the nation.

In a statement released via his Facebook page shortly after the announcement, Cummings emphasized the significance of this achievement.

Now more than ever, he stated, we have a platform to champion peace, security, and development not just for Liberia, but for Africa and the world.

Cummings extended his congratulations to the current administration, acknowledging the efforts that led to this diplomatic victory.

“I want to congratulate President Joseph Boakai’s administration for sealing the deal and President George Weah’s administration for starting this process,” he said.

He also specifically praised Foreign Minister Sara Beysolow and her team for their incredible work in making this happen.

While celebrating the win, Cummings urged a pragmatic approach to Liberia’s new international role.

As we celebrate this achievement, he cautioned, let us also stay engaged and hold hope that this position will be strategically used to create real opportunities for our people and our country.

He concluded with a message of unity and optimism, stating, Liberia’s future is bright when we work together.
