MONROVIA – Symbolism, be it conveyed in political parties’ colors or slogans or whatever, is as critical as a nation’s flag and history. Colors and emblems are tied to idealism and dogma – the identity for which citizens and members are ready to fight, to sacrifice and even to die for. In the Liberian political theater, the dominant colors are ‘blue’ for the Congress for Democratic Change (CDC) and ‘green’ for the ruling Unity Party. The arguably youngest and fast-growing party in the country, the Citizens Movement for Change (CMC), is showcasing ‘yellow’ as its color. Why is this color important to the CMC? The political leader, Musa Hassan Bility, explains in his latest ‘Letter from Saclepea’ which full text is BELOW.

Why We Choose YELLOW: The Color of Light, Life, and Limitless Possibilities
By Musa Hassan Bility
In a world painted with countless shades and tones, yellow stands out as a radiant beacon of hope, joy, and purpose. It is more than just a color. It is a declaration, a state of mind, and a direction of vision. We choose yellow not merely for its beauty, but for what it awakens in us, for what it says about us, and for the energy it ignites around us.
Happiness and Joy
Yellow is the color of laughter, of childhood smiles, and sunlit mornings. It evokes spontaneous joy and heartfelt amusement. When we choose yellow, we are choosing to see life through the lens of possibility, to embrace the moments that make our spirits dance and our hearts feel light. It reminds us to never lose the magic of wonder and to lead with happiness even in the face of hardship.
Optimism and Energy
Like a burst of sunshine on a weary day, yellow is the embodiment of positivity and resilience. It symbolizes the courage to believe that things can be better, that tomorrow can be brighter than today.
It is the energy of a new beginning, the rush of fresh ideas, and the unshakable conviction that our best days are still ahead.
Warmth and Light
Yellow mirrors the warmth of the sun, the very source of life itself. It reminds us to be light bearers, to bring warmth to cold places, comfort to the weary, and hope to the hopeless. In a time when the world can feel cold and divided, yellow is the color that says, you are welcome, you are seen, and you are loved.
Intellect and Logic
Beneath its cheerful surface, yellow also speaks to the mind. It represents clarity, intelligence, and curiosity. It inspires thought, analysis, and reason. Those who think in yellow are dreamers with discipline, visionaries with strategy, and leaders with purpose. It is the color of the enlightened mind, one that questions, learns, and innovates.
Communication and Ideas
Yellow is not silent. It speaks, it shares, it expresses. It is the color of communication, of sparking new ideas and opening doors to dialogue. It is the color of a voice that refuses to be quieted and of a message that burns with truth, urgency, and passion. When we speak in yellow, we speak to be understood, to inspire, and to connect.
Yellow is a Vision
We choose yellow because it mirrors the essence of our journey, bold, bright, fearless, and full of life. It is a symbol of the future we dare to imagine, a future where happiness is a right not a privilege, where ideas are shared and not silenced, and where every person walks in the light of purpose.
In yellow, we see tomorrow
In yellow, we find strength
In yellow, we choose life
In yellow we see CMC
