According to the Maryland County Representative, the employees who requested anonymity stated that the Executive Management Team misappropriated budgeted funds in the 2024 annual budget allotted for Medical Insurance and created a problematic scheme of medical refund for employees which has resulted to the suspension of over 28 employees and over 40 additional employees undergoing investigation with the Profession Ethics Division (PED) of the LRA.
A request to Probe Asst. Comm. Krote
Representative Williams said in the communication that the employees accused the Executive Management Team of the LRA of deliberately prolonging the recruitment of the Commissioner of Domestic Tax since the pronouncement of vacancy in April 2024.
He wrote further: “As a consequence, Madam Margaret Krote, Assistant Commission for Large Tax Division has been simultaneously holding two offices as both Assistant Commissioner and Acting Commissioner of Domestic Tax and the impact is reflected in the discovery of property valued at over One Million Eight Hundred Thousands United States Dollars (1,800,000.00 USD) she acquired in less than Twelve (12) Months of serving the dual capacities without declaring the Properties as required by the Liberia Revenue Authority Act and the Act Prescribing Code of Conduct for Public Officials.”

“Honorable Speaker, considering the grave nature of the allegations and the adverse consequence it could have on the LRA and domestic resource mobilization,” he said, “I kindly request that you include this subject on the agenda of the House for deliberation on Tuesday, February 04, 2025 and thereafter mandate the Chief Clerk to cite the Executive Management Team of the LRA for a probe.
