MONROVIA – The Liberty Party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) has reinstated the suspended National Youth Congress leadership following a formal disciplinary investigation. The Congress leadership, headed by Othello Garpue, accepted all corrective measures during the suspension without opposition. The NEC said this compliance reflects the party’s core values of accountability and institutional discipline. Separately, the NEC appointed elections committees with a 90-day mandate. The committees will oversee elections for the Youth and Women Congresses, fulfilling a provision in the party’s own constitution. Taken together, the reinstatement and the elections mandate signal a party working to project internal democratic order. The Liberty Party says it aims to build a stronger foundation for national leadership. THE ANALYST reports.
The National Executive Committee (NEC) of the Liberty Party has reinstated the Liberty Party National Youth Congress leadership to their previous positions following the conclusion of an investigation into their conduct and subsequent disciplinary actions.
After careful review of the investigation report and related discussions, the NEC acknowledged that the Youth Congress leadership, headed by Othello Garpue, accepted and obeyed the corrective measures instituted by the party during the suspension period without opposition.
The NEC stated that this demonstration of respect for party authority reflects the values of accountability and commitment to the principles of the Liberty Party. The NEC therefore reinstated the Youth Congress leadership with immediate effect and encouraged the officials to continue serving with renewed dedication and responsibility.
Elections committees established for congress wings
In a parallel decision, and in line with Article XIV, paragraph three of the Liberty Party Constitution, which mandates that within 18 months of the adoption of the constitution the NEC shall instruct the Secretariat to conduct elections for all local and county officers and Youth and Women Congresses, the NEC established two committees to work with the Secretariat in overseeing these elections.
Both committees, working closely with the Secretariat, have been given a 90-day mandate from the date of the statement to conduct elections for the Youth and Women Congresses.
The appointed committee members for the Youth Congress convention are: Cephas M.M.D. Fahnzamiton, Chairperson; Comfort U. Benson, Member; and Yekesson T. Kruah, Member. The appointed committee members for the Women Congress convention are: Willette P. Cooper, Chairperson; Naomi Moore, Member; and Jeneba Passawage, Member.
NEC urges unity and discipline
The NEC emphasized that these measures are part of its ongoing commitment to strengthening internal democracy, fostering inclusivity, and empowering young people and women within the party.
The Liberty Party called on all members, especially those of the Youth and Women Congresses, to support the process with discipline, unity, and enthusiasm as the party continues to build a stronger foundation for national leadership and development. The statement was signed by Martin Saye Kollah, National Secretary General of the Liberty Party.
