A group of young people under the banner of “Concerned Youth of the Borough” (CYB) has accused District #16 Representative Dixon Seboe of trekking partisan line in running the district,
describing as trash, the second annual report of Montserrado County District #16 Representative, Dixon Seboe, recently delivered to his constituents in his District.
The CYP also described Rep. Seboe as a leader who is “unpatriotic, divisive and one who lacks the ability to lead the people of District #16.
The position of the Concerned Youth of the Borough was contained in a press released issued recently in Monrovia
The Concerned Youth’s concern, the group said, is in consideration of statement he has made against local officials heading the Beaches, and Water Ways Project (BWWP) in New Kru Town. The CYB release said Representative Seboe has threatened to take local leaders who are not CDCians off the BWWP off the project and replace them with CDCians for what he termed as ‘double dipping’ and not being supportive to the CDC’s pro-poor agenda.
The group also condemned what the considered the annual message of the representative to the Borough, stressed that such statement coming from a senior member of the ruling Coalition for Democratic Change and a Representative in parliament representing about 50,000 inhabitants from different political backgrounds in District #16 is counterproductive, and violates Chapter Three, Article 18 of the Liberian Constitution which states.
The group, in their press statement, said the CDC Lawmaker’s report was squarely marred by outlining his personal achievements thus placing more emphasis on his scholarship program instead of tackling the major problems affecting the people within the District.
Some the problems mentioned by the CYB in their release include poor delivery of healthcare at the Redemption Hospital, security threats hovering in the district, and division among his constituents allegedly created by the lawmaker, amongst others.
The “Concerned Youth of the Borough” has also alleged that Rep. Dixon Seboe is in the constant habit of creating confusion and division among residents of the District, while dealing with his constituents, based on party affiliation, something they believed led to the suspension for time indefinite, of one of the regional coordinators of the BWWP, George Young, who is a member of the former ruling Unity Party.
It can be recalled that on December 23, 2019, the Ministry of Youth & Sports presented a letter of suspension to George Young, stating that the decision was taken by the Ministry based on numerous complaints filed by leaders of his District against him, but the group expressed displeasure over Minister Zeogar Wilson’s failure to attached copies of said complaints.
“Concerned Youth of the Borough” however condemned the manner and form in which region one coordinator of the Beaches and Water ways Project George Young was suspended by Youth and Sports Minister Zoegar Wilson without pay, pending investigation.
“All Liberian citizens shall have equal opportunity to work and gainful employment regardless of sex, creed, religion, ethnic background, place of origin, or political affiliation; and all shall be entitled to equal pay for equal work”.
The release furthered that prior to Mr. Young’s suspension from the project, the CYB has observed numerous posts on the official Facebook Page of CDC District #16 Youth League Chairman Abdul Kanneh, alleging that there would be a radical restructuring at the BWWP soon, adding, “we will clean the mess”.
The release also noted that Kanneh allegedly posted that, he was told to purchase broom for the acting region one coordinator of the BWWP, Juris K. K. Nagbe to sweep those internal reactionaries from the project, terming it as a political project.
The “Concerned Youth of the Borough” added that alleged Social media posts from Abdul Kanneh and Rep. Seboe’s alleged assertion on December 28, 2019 to the beach workers that the suspension of George Young was masterminded by him has authenticated their claim that Mr. Young’s suspension was pre-calculated by the CDC hierarchies in District #16.
The group however recommended the following to national government that the deputy region one coordinator of the project act in the position of suspended Young pending investigation instead of J.K.K. Nagbe; thet Minister Wilson make available copies of the complaints filed against Young; that Rep. Seboe distance himself from the BWWP and allow Minister Wilson to work without interference; and that Rep. Seboe curtails what they described as ‘divisive politics’ and foster peace and stability in the district; the statement read by their Chairman on press and propaganda, Rannies Wahlo concluded.
