The National headquarters of the Collaborating Political Parties (CPP) on 19th Street in Monrovia was turned to a carnival like event on Tuesday, June 20, 2023 when a group comprising of women and youth under the banner “Progressive Women and Children” declared support and endorsed the Presidential ticket of the CPP affectionately dubbed “The Fixers ticket” for the October 10, 2023 presidential and general elections and vowed that “we are prepared and ready”.
The group comprising of a fifteen thousand membership said they took the decision to back the Cummings-Brumskine ticket under the platform of the CPP referred to the ticket as “the liberator of their future” that will transform Liberia and fix the country’s damaged image and economy, maintaining that the ticket provides the best alternative to salvage the country from its current state of general backwardness.
According to the group, they have long been held in social, economic, and political captivity under the Coalition for Democracy Change (CDC) government and its predecessors.
Officially receiving the endorsement and speaking briefly, CPP standard-bearer and head of the “Fixer ticket” Mr. Alexander B. Cummings extolled the group for their support and endorsement of their presidential bid.
According to him, he takes the endorsement very seriously and he will ensure that the youth of Liberia are transformed and given hope for the future with an understanding to compete in the global market.
“I want to thank you for this endorsement. I also want you to know that I take this very seriously. I want you to know that I am committed. When we take the oath of Office in January, next year, we will start the journey of restoring good governance to Liberia, economic growth and prosperity. And we will look at our women and children” he noted.
The opposition politician noted that young people represent the future of Liberia while the women are the backbone of the country. He assured Liberians that he will work harder every day to make sure that the lives of Liberians are transformed.
“I want to assure you that Liberia will have a brighter future under a Cummings-Brumskine administration. We will make sure that the lives of all are transformed. Please leave here today and know that we are committed to changing this country” he concluded.
For her part, the vice standard-bearer of the CPP Cllr. Charlyne Brumskine urged the petitioners to be more serious about their petition by voting the CPP comes October 10, 2023. She asserted that if the women of Liberia are not serious about what they say in their petition, they will watch their children die before their own eyes from what she described as “Drug Crisis”
“If you are not serious, you will watch your children died before your own eyes”, he said
She urged them to be serious and stop chanting “Awoosay” that will not benefit them and their children’s future, but rather focus on the restoration of their children’s future by voting the CPP – Cummings Brumskine ticket.
She added that the opportunity will be provided to the women and young people to decide on shifting their future for the better.
Reading the petition earlier, the secretary general of the progressive women and children, Princess Tokpah stated that the ANC political leader, Alexander B. Cummings is the emancipator of Liberians from their current state of poverty.
“The Progressive Women and Children of Liberia is a registered group in Liberia that has a membership of over 15,000. We are based in six counties namely Montserrado, Margibi, Lofa, Bong and Grand Cape Mount counties. We have decided to endorse you because we see our future in you” she stated.
Ms. Tokpah averred that Cummings had the potential to restore the lost future of women and children who are suffering from the effects of bad governance.
Accordingly, she called on Liberians from other counties and those in the diaspora to render the support to Mr. Cummings who she believes is the sure emancipator of Liberia from its current state of being.
Meanwhile, during the program the group gowned the Fixers, Cummings and Brumskine with beautiful traditional attire.
