MONROVIA – The race to who gets elected come October 10, 2023 in District #8, Montserrado County getting spiced up with a quit notice being served on the incumbent, Acarous Moses Gray by a former occupant, Ambassador Rufus Neufville through his “12 reasons why we must unseat Acarous Gray” information he shared to people, especially citizens and residents of the district, stating among other things that Rep. Gray has abandoned the district and its people.
Ambassador Neufville who was first elected to the position in 2005 on the platform of the then Congress for Democratic Change (CDC) raised several issues against Mr. Gray who is seeking re-election for the second having being elected in 2011 some of which dwelled on accountability, stating that on two occasions, Rep. Gray received USD30k on behalf of the district from the national budget without making any report to the people of the district.
“Gray refused to report to the people of District #8: (A) Where is the $30,000 USD that Gray admitted receiving for District 8? See the 2021 Budget. NO REPORT!(B) Where is the second $30,000 USD that Gray also admitted receiving on behalf of District 8? Evidence is the 2022 Budget. NO REPORT!
“(C) China Union company gave $20,000 USD to each District in Montserrado County. NO REPORT!”, he said
Perhaps among the several issues raised against him, the most direct one that is linked to a possible violation of the constitution is the allegation that he does not reside in the district as his current place of abode was mentioned by Neufville as a place in Margibi County, not very far from the EBK military, Schieffelin Township instead of District #8, Monrovia.
“Even CDCians do not see or hear from Gray until election time. After 2017 election, he told the people that he was going to contest in Grand Cape Mount County in 2023. He used this as an excuse to abandon the district for 5 years”
“Gray constantly refers to the people of District 8 as beggars. Gray has forgotten that I did not refer to him as a beggar when he came to my house in tears and I employed him as my Special Assistant”, Neufville said.
Neufville said some of Gray manufactured false information led to the unconstitutional removal of Justice Kabineh Janeh from the Supreme Court. Taxpayers are now indebted to Justice Janeh by Order of the ECOWAS Court.
“Gray was taken to Court for stealing EBOLA money while his constituents were dying. Dr. Wleh from Rockspring Valley and many people died from EBOLA. May their souls RIP.
“Executive Branch Puppet. Gray supported everything including the Eton & Ebomaf deals. No effective oversight.
“Gray publicly defended the Harmonization Policy which reduced the salary of government workers”, Mr. Neufville said.
Other reasons mentioned in the statement by Neufville who has also indicated his strong interest to contest as a candidate in District #8 accused Gray of being an ingrate as he abandoned all those who supported his dream to become a lawmaker, first according to Neufville he insulted the late Senator Geradine Doe Sheriff after she supported his campaign..”Gray has disrespected all the people that gave him BREAD in his difficult days including Vah Isaac Tokpa, George Solo, Benjamin Doe, Kelvin Fallah, Manko Cooper, Alomiza Ennos, Joshua Sackie”, he said..
“Gray used more than $200,000 USD to marry in Paris, France while the clinics and schools in his district are in deplorable conditions. Gray is boasting of having a fleet of luxury cars – 2 Mercedes, 1 BMW, and a 2023 Chevrolet. Gray’s cars may be worth more than a quarter of a million USD while the people (including CDC partisans) live in extremely difficult conditions”, he said.
Neufville also said that Gray led an attack on the campus of the University of Liberia where he reportedly brutalized peaceful students, asserting that an attack on one student is an attack on all students as well as “Gray manufactured false information that led to the unconstitutional removal of Justice Kabineh Janeh from the Supreme Court, adding that taxpayers are now indebted to Justice Janeh by order of the ECOWAS court.
