UP Partisans Resist IT Specialist Transfer -Block Aircraft From taking off In Harper

MONROVIA: There was a mild scene at the Alexander Tubman Airport in Harper City, Maryland County when some partisans of the Unity Party(UP) yesterday, Thursday, November 9, 2023 resisted the transfer from Harper to Monrovia of one Sumson Essien Jr. a Ghanaian IT expert who was arrested recently by members of the Joint Security at the Webbo Junction CheckPoint on the alleged suspicion of “trying to undermine the electoral security of the country.

According to our correspondent in Maryland Essien who is under a contract with the opposition UP said he arrived the country few days ago was billed to train poll watchers for the party in the Southeast of the country having done similar exercise in Monrovia and was said to made some progress with respect to making the poll watchers effective and engage.

When he was arrested, he was interrogated and at the end of the preliminary investigation according to sources, the joint security was advised to transfer him to Monrovia for further interrogation. It was in the process to transfer him to Monrovia when supporters of UP stormed the airport to demand the release of their worker.

According to Hon. John A. Balout Jr, former senator of Maryland County and former Ambassador  the Unity Party had decided to change her poll watchers during the second round, thus prompting the need to hire a new consultant to carry on the job. Hon. John Balout said when the specialist was arrested in Webo River Gee County, the elections authority and immigration went on the scene and said that he never had any illegal items with him that will tamper with election,

Speaking to a team of journalists at the airport in Harper City the County Campaign Manager of the Unity Party alleged that the Weah led government is involved in  institutionalizing criminality, and they were involved with fraudulent activity during the first round of the general elections and they were defeated by the Unity Party.

According to the former Maryland County Development superintendent their votes were stolen by the Weah led government in the rural community, and this time around they brought in technicians to train their people and the government just believed that she will use the police to reduce the police to party police to engage in criminality.

Nathaniel Toe, a member of UP who spoke to The Analyst that since the Ghanaian was arrested, he has not been formally charged and that the security is kept from the county.

According to him, the significance of the illegal arrest of the technician is for the government to disrupt the entire training process of the Unity Party in the Southeast. Toe further explained that their guest is not going to leave Maryland County without any former charge by the Liberia National Police.

Also speaking in an interview with our correspondent Unity Party Women wing chairlady Mrs. Julian Morais Johnson disclosed that this country is a country of democracy and the citizen voted for George Weah into power and the same people that voted him into power saying are saying they were tired with him and he cannot force himself on the people when they are resolved to replace him through a democratic process.

Meanwhile the head of joint security in Region 5, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Emmanuel Doe Jlikan informed the media that they work on information and their strength in law enforcement is  information based. He said information gathered has it that the Ghanaian National arrived in Harper City, Tuesday November 7, 2023, and is alleged to be a software developer and a technocrat in app development and it is alleged that he came to do some work.

He said they were informed by the Headquarters in Monrovia that Essien should be brought to Monrovia after the preliminary investigation

He said given their role as a joint security they thought that the man should be sent to Monrovia since the decision making process which include full investigation and processing to court will take place.
