UP Breaks Silence On Mo Ali’s Social Issue

The former governing Unity Party has said that it has acknowledged the recent public statement by its National Secretary General, Mr. Mohammed Ali in the wake of the reported social affairs with a young lady, Miss Augustina Gray. The party welcomed the action of Mr. Ali to takes ownership of his actions and laying out plans to address the situation.

The Unity Party announced its position in a press release signed by Madam Cornelia Kruah-Togba in response to pressure from the public for the party to take a stand on the allegation from Miss Gray that she was carrying a pregnancy for Mr. Ali which the top UP man told her to abort against her will.

“We recognize that though the circumstance that involves the personal relationship of two consenting adults who are in earnest dialogue to resolve the issue, it has a significant impact on the image of a party that champions women’s rights and youth empowerment”, the release said. .

The release further stated that the party believes that leaders are obligated to comport themselves in ways that demonstrate the moral values desired in society, and added that the party extended empathy to Miss Augustina Gray for the distress the politicization of the situation had caused her.

UP then admonished partisans and the public to consider her privacy and wellbeing and refrain from actions and making statements that would have the propensity of negatively impacting her future and integrity.

The former ruling party further stated that it accepted Mr. Ali’s request for a leave of absence from the Party for a specified period to focus on the issue.

It can be recalled that recently, a recorded telephone conversation purported to be between and among Mr. Ali, Miss Gray and another lady said to be a health worker who was said to be the person to abort the pregnancy went viral, and a lot of reactions thrilled the development.

While some were of the opinion that there was nothing incriminating in the affairs as both persons were adults, others on the other hand who believe that it borders on morality and sanctity that the UP said it so espoused and that act was a display of sycophancy and fake advocacy.
