MONROVIA: As a reciprocity for the level of support received from Liberia in the ongoing military aggression against his country, the Foreign Minister of Ukraine, DMytro Kuleba has expressed appreciation to the government and people of Liberia for standing by the former state in the former Union of Soviet Socialist Republic (USSR) as a “true friend of our country and people”
Foreign Minister Kuleba made the statement yesterday in his brief remarks after his investiture with a national honor by President George Manneh Weah for his exemplary role in shaping the foreign policy objectives of Ukraine and “standing for the cause of his country and people”. He was conferred with an honor of African Star with the rank of Grand Commander.
“Liberia was one of the first countries to condemn and stand up against the foreign aggression from the Russian federal troops and I came here to say thank you and also to thank other African nations that have stood with Ukraine in their struggle against the occupation forces”, he said.
He lauded the leadership of President Weah, which he described as “outstanding” and looked forward to a more rewarding relationship between Ukraine and Liberia.
Minister Kuleba then presented a plaque to his Liberian counterpart, Ambassador Dee Maxwell Saah Kemayah for his role in giving informed opinion of the Liberian government to the outside world concerning the Ukrainian crisis.
Minister Kemayah while receiving the award thanked the government and people of Ukraine for the honor bestowed on him and dedicated the award to President Weah for being a committed and dedicated leader of the country who has inspired him and others to work for the good of the country and its people.
Meanwhile, besides the honor given Foreign Minister Kuleba, other foreigners and high profile Liberian government officials were honored. Those honored included, among others were the President of The Gambia, Adama Barrow, Speaker Bhofal Chambers, his deputy J. Fonati Koffa, President Pro Tempore of the Liberian Senate, Albert Chie, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Dee Maxwell Saah Kemayah, among others.
