Team Teahjay & Grigsby Executive Endorses Weah -Rallies Sinoe Citizens’ Support

By: H Matthew Turry

MONROVIA: A former Speaker of the Mano River Union Youth Parliament (MRUYP) Liberia Chapter and a Senior Executive Member of Teams Atty. Teklo Maxwell Grigsby and J. Milton Teahjay, Melvin Sunday Sarh has endorsed President George Weah for the November 14 runoff.

Reading the endorsement statement Monday, November 6, 2023, in Monrovia, the Steering Committee Chairman for Team Teklo Maxwell Grigsby   Melvin Sunday Sarh said it is not a mistake to support the re-election bid of the Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) Standard Bearer due to his numerous development initiatives in the country.

According to the former Mano River Union Youth Parliament speaker, the endorsement was born out of the strongest conviction that President Weah will return the people of Sinoe a great favor by recruiting some of the best and brightest sons and daughters to occupy local government as well as Cabinet positions to develop the roads within the County.

“I must make it emphatically clear that supporters of Teams Grigsby and Teahjay hold memberships in several political parties including the Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) and Unity Party (UP) and so I don’t see my support to President Weah as a betrayal and it will not be a betrayal to either of the two leaders, all of whom I hold in high esteem, by calling on their respective supporters to strongly support and vote the Weah-Taylor ticket for the second term”, he explained.

He noted that the supporters of Team Grigsby and Team Teahjay constituting a powerful bloc with great deal of influence over the people of Sinoe County will be making a terrible mistake by allowing their differences to cloud their reasoning if they do not support their own son.

“It is noteworthy to state that both Atty. Teklo Maxwell Grigsby and Senator J. Milton Teahjay immensely supported President George Manneh Weah in the just ended October 10, 2023 Presidential Elections; however, some influential Party Executives of the Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) both at National and County level deliberately ignored Teams Teahjay and Grigsby immense support to President Weah during the first round of the elections and conducted the affairs of the CDC in a manner that undermined the legislative election of the two Independent Candidates and produced the unfavorable outcomes”, he said.

He added by  calling on all members of Team Grigsby and Team Teahjay to put behind them their differences with Party Executives of the CDC regardless of how the two Teams were badly treated “which led to the kind of results we now have from the October 10, 2023 elections”.

Meanwhile, Mr Sarh called on Party Executives of the CDC at both the National and Local, to make adjustments in the CDC Sinoe County Campaign Team for the inclusion of others who are non-partisans of the CDC, and also the inclusion of women, people of disabilities, and other minorities. I am of the greatest conviction that by taking this step of ensuring diversity in the Campaign Team for the Runoff Elections will rekindle the spirit of collectivism and ensure a unity of purpose in delivering a massive win in favor of President Weah in the three electoral districts and the county in its entirety.

He noted that the people love President Weah and are going to re-elect him in ensuring his desire for the construction of major highways leading to and within the Southeast inclusive of Sinoe, and the construction of other infrastructural projects in Sinoe County.

“Let me congratulate all political actors including Independent Candidates Atty. Teklo Maxwell Grigsby, II, Senator J. Milton Teahjay, Representative Matthew G. Zarzar, Madam Grace Scotland Briama and others for unanimously supporting President Weah in the first round of the October 10, 2023 Elections which contributed to President Weah obtaining 78% of the total votes for the Presidential Elections in Sinoe County”, he concluded.
