MONROVIA – On Sunday, October 27, 2025, the Survival Community in Margibi County held a grand induction ceremony for its new leadership, led by Charles B. Sumo as Chairperson, along with other officials. The ceremony was attended by a cross-section of community members and leaders from neighboring communities.

The keynote speaker, Chris M.N. Kaleebey, Executive Coordinating Person of the Confederation of Mamba Kabah District Community Chairmanship, delivered a stirring message to the new leadership and the community at large. Kaleebey emphasized that the success of leadership depends on the support of community members, stressing the importance of attending meetings and making contributions. He urged the community to remain united, warning that division can lead to leadership failure.

In his address, Kaleebey outlined key principles for effective leadership, including respect for community leadership, resolving internal conflicts within the community, and adhering to the community’s constitution and bylaws. He also called on the leadership to be accountable, transparent, and innovative, and to understand the local context in making decisions.

Kaleebey’s message also extended to the losers in the election, urging them not to be despondent but to awaken and cooperate with the new leadership for the betterment of the community.

The newly inducted Chairperson, Charles B. Sumo, also delivered an inaugural speech, promising to promote peace, uphold the rights of residents, and lead according to the community’s bylaws and the laws of Liberia. Sumo vowed not to compromise in enforcing the constitution and bylaws and called on residents to embrace love, empathy, voluntarism, peace, and development.

The induction ceremony marked a significant milestone in the history of the Survival Community, and the new leadership is expected to drive the community’s development agenda. As the community embarks on this new chapter, it is expected that the leadership will prioritize the needs of the community and work towards creating a better future for all residents.
