Reflections and Prayer Service For Brumskine – As Liberty Party Celebrates His 71st Posthumous Birth Anniversary

A prayer and memorial service in honor of the late politician and legal luminary, Charles Walker Brumskine will hold today, Wednesday, April 27, 2022 under the aegis of the Liberty Party and his former allies which will be a day of reflections of his life and times and prayer service to commemorate his 71st posthumous anniversary.

According to the party, the event will take place at the Old Road Office of the Party located at the Dirt Hole area, Old Road within the vicinity of the transformers, a block away from Kailondo Guest House at 9: 00 am.

The demised prominent politician died on November 19, 2019 in the United States of America after battling with ailment for a period of time .Until that fateful day, he was the Political Leader of the Liberty Party, a political institution he founded in 2004 and contested the presidency three times in 2005, 2011 and 2017.

Brumskine rose to national prominence in the late 90’s when he served as President Pro Tempore of the Liberian Senate, a position he held for a short time before falling out with former President Charles G. Taylor that led him to flee into exile and returned in 2003 to challenge Taylor but the escalation of the war which led to the resignation of Taylor in 2003 did not allow the election to take place.

After the election in 2017, which many believed may have been his last time to take a shot at the Presidency, Mr. Brumskine spent most of the time seeking medical attention and unfortunately died in 2019 aged 68.

As is expected of every prominent politician, especially someone who was a political leader for one of the major political parties in the country, coupled with his outstanding legal career where he mentored a lot of young and talented lawyers over the years, today’s event is expected to draw many people from far and near  most of whom will give their impression of his life and time which were well spent and eulogize the legacy left behind.

Perhaps no one provides the teaser to the historic event more than his surviving daughter, Charlyn, who is taking after him in the legal profession where she has already shown brilliance with her outstanding results in the recent Bar examinations.

“He was one of the greatest sons of Liberia. He navigated the political and legal fields with brilliance, a moderate tempo and dedication to the best interests of his clients and this country. He created a political party that modeled his life’s philosophy: integrity, rule of law,  and love of country. He will never be forgotten. His legacy lives on”, she said in a message to herald the day.
