Pure Water Pact Signed MPW, Last Well Say 240,000 to Benefit

The Ministry of Public Works and LAST WELL Inc., a US-based NGO, have signed an MOU under which the NGO will provide 30,000 water purification filters to 240,000 persons within five counties in Liberia. This is in addition to ongoing works by LAST WELL in the water sector as safe drinking water is a must for all of our people under the Pro Poor Agenda.

The Government of Liberia, through the Ministry of Public Works, exchanged Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Last Well Liberia. Speaking on behalf of the Ministry of Public Works, Minister Mobutu Vlah Nyenpan thanked and appreciated the Last Well Family for such an incredible Water and Sanitation exercise.

He maintained that the signing of the MOU is a milestone in the history of our country and also the promotion and implementation of the Pro-Poor Agenda for Development and Prosperity (PAPD).

For his part, the Senior Vice President for Operation at Last Well Liberia, Mr. Augustine Doc Lawson, thanked the Ministry of Public Works and the Government of Liberia for affording them the opportunity for such an exchanged.

Mr. Lawson intimated that there are 30,000 fitters imported in the country to be deployed in five counties, which include Sinoe, Rivergee, Maryland, Grand Kru and Rivercess. He also stated that the lifespan of the filters is 15yrs and 240,100 households are expected to benefit from said initiative.
