Pres. Boakai Fulfils Promise on Drugs -He and VP Koung tested

MONROVIA: In fulfilment of his promise during his maiden State of the Nation Address SONA)to publicly do a drug test along with his Vice President, President Joseph Nyuma Boakai yesterday, Wednesday, February 7, 2024 led VP Jeremiah Kpan Koung, to honor the promise when both of them were tested in the presence of many amidst cheers and admiration for the two top officials in the country.

Speaking to the Executive Mansion Reporters minutes after his test, President Joseph Boakai said his administration will lead Liberia by example, noting that his action is intended to promote a drugs free society in the country.

It can be recalled, on Monday, January 29, 2024,wà while delivering the State of the Nation Address as mandated by article 58 of the Liberian Constitution, President Boakai declared drugs a national emergency.

President Boakai at the same time promised to lead the process of taking the drug test with his Vice President, Jeremiah Koung.

President Boakai also informed Liberians that he on today February 8, 2024 declare his assets and liabilities to Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission in fulfilment of his promise to run a transparent and accountable government.

Also speaking Dr. Nicole Cooper told Executive mansion reporters that President Boakai and Vice President Koung were tested for several substances to include: Cocaine, THT, MDMA and Marijuana among others.

At the same time , members of the steering committee joined the Chief Executive for the Drugs test exercise including other senior government officials to include the Minister of Justice Designate , Cllr. Cooper Kruah, Minister of Health Designate Dr. Louise Kpoto, the Director of the Liberia Drugs Enforcement Agency Abraham Kromah,  The National Security Advisor, Samuel Kofi Woods, the Minister of State, Sylvester Grigsby,  The Minister of Foreign Minister Designate, Sara Beysolow Nyanti,  among others.
