“One “Round Victory Is Sure”-Mulbah Morlu -As CDC Launches “Victory Committee”

MONROVIA: The ruling Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC), a conglomeration of nine constituent political parties took their quest for re-election in the ensuing October 10, 2023 general elections a step further yesterday, Thursday, July 27, 2023 when it reiterated its vow to cling on to power with a one round victory just as the party named its Nation Campaign Team which it called “Victory Committee at an elaborate program held at the National Headquarters of the party in Congo Town, Monrovia.

Addressing a news conference Thursday July 27, 2023 at the program, the Chairman of CDC, Mulbah K. Morlu named Liberia the Commissioner General of the Liberia Maritime Authority (LIMA)  Lenn Eugene Nagbe as Campaign Manager, Garrison D. Yealue,  Deputy Campaign Manager for Administration, Representative Thomas P. Fallah  Deputy Campaign Manager for Operation, General Campaign Coordinator, Amb Nora Finda, General Campaign Coordinator and Bedell Freeman Deputy for Finance

Others are Deputy for International Outreach, Morris Sackor; Deputy for Logistics, Honestine  Clarke; Deputy for Planing, Varfee M. Tulay; Deputy for Transportation, Daoda S. Kallon, Secretary General, Jefferson Tamba Koijee;  Chairperson of the Victory Campaign  Amb. Jeremiah Solunteh, among others.

Prior to the naming of the Committee, Chairman Morlu admonished partisans, supporters, and sympathizers of CDC not to be complacent about the success of the last general elections in 2017, and urged them to be on the alert, mobilizing their members and new converts to the party and keep the tempo alive until the final day of the elections.

While taking an aim at the opposition community, Morlu warned Liberians on the “danger of giving to people who want to accomplish their selfish motive in exploiting the majority of the people”, terming them in the process as “people who want to exploit, grab and go”.

He then encouraged all Chairpersons in districts and  counties to organize event to bring back all partisans to the party, saying “we  have resolved that no partisan will be left behind when we win our government will be inclusive”.

He pointed out that those that have wronged the CDC are forgiven and CDC also asked to be forgiven, saying CDC is the way forward to continue to transform this country under the stewardship of President George Manheh Weah.

While emphatically terming the Campaign Committee as “Victory Champaign Committee, he said he was not making out words but has the strongest conviction that the election will be won by CDC in the first round, stressing that all statistics have pointed to a “CDC One Round victory”, stressing that  the campaign committee was inclusive of all sectors of the society and congratulated  President Weah for appointing Len Eugene Nagbe as Campaign Manager of the CDC ”Victory Campaign Committee this year”.

Also speaking at the news conference Thursday, the Secretary General of the Coalition for Democratic Change, Jefferson Tamba Koijee reiterated the party’s commitment to upholding the peace and stability of the country,  recounting that members of the party were unjustifiably jailed, beaten and killed during the regime of the former ruling Unity Party.

He however said that unlike the UP government, the ruling CDC has been noted by the citizens and the international community for keeping the peace of the land since its inception in 2018.

Koijee, who is also the Mayor of the City of Monrovia further told the news conference that the CDC has considered the maintenance of the peace as its first major priority before, during and after the October 10, 2023 presidential and legislative elections.
