“JNB Never Offered Anyone Wologizi” -Jojo Boakai -Says Costa Lied About JNB Promising Him VSB Slot

MONROVIA: When popular talk show host and political commentator Henry Pedro Costa finally delivered his long-awaited account of what accordingly happened that led to his disengagement from the Joseph Nyuma Boakai 2023 presidential bid, concerns were immediately raised in many quarters for the Unity Party Standard Bearer to respond to the litany of egregious claims, chief among which Costa said Ambassador Boakai had promised to mortgage the Zologizi Mountain in Lofa County to some “investors” that specifically called for Costa to become running mate to “Rescue-1” in order to access a US$30 million election funding. But Mr. Joseph Boakai, Jr., son of the opposition community’s front runner in the October 10, 2023 presidential polls, who was reportedly in Ghana and met with the purported investors, says Costa’s statement is far-fetched from what actually transpired in Ghana.

“At no time in that meeting did the Old Man offer those people anything in terms of concessions, in terms of Wologizzi. Nothng. The Old Man (JNB) only said to them: ‘if you are business people and your support is contingent on my winning and what happens afterward, then bring your business interest and we will talk about it’.

“There were no specifics placed forward. Because that’s what they were – business people. The Old Man said he was surprised that the investors’ promised support to his presidential bid would be only contingent on the idea of taking Henry as his running mate. Not on any business proposition. They hadn’t even indicated what sector they were interested in. Nothing. So, the Old Man put no concession on the table.

“I know, I was in Ghana. Number one. Number two, yes, Henry called very disappointed after the Old Man turned down the conversation. Two hours, he made us sit on the phone and listen to him go through his entire diatribe about his prophecy and everything else. And again, the Old Man said clearly: ‘Henry, we have partners, we have other political alliances and so on. It would have been completely wrong of me to go ahead and accept that proposition, and I don’t think you’re ready’.

“And the Old Man asked each and every one on the call to weigh in. Myself, Mrs. Tamba, Mr. Johnny, everybody weighed in and we all said it: Henry, you’re not ready.

“Henry ended that call and said the only thing he wanted was for them to find a way to access the money and so on. Bro, accessing the money is one thing. What was at stake would bring a complete split in the opposition, because if that conversation had gotten out that the Old Man is considering Henry, and that was what he was trying to push, it would have been disastrous. But the reason he couldn’t push it was because the Old Man said a clear no,” Boakai junior, who is popularly known as Jojo, intimated.

Continuing, Jojo wondered why people would believe that Ambassador Boakai actually had a conversation with Costa where he said to Costa that he wasn’t going to pick Nyonblee, or that he was going to pick Nimba County Senator Jeremiah Koung.

“I didn’t even know who my Old Man was picking until the day before he announced his pick. Do you think he actually told Henry Costa that he was not going to pick those two people and then went back and picked Jeremiah Koung?” Jojo wondered rhetorically.
