Gov’t Promises US $12 M to empower Diaspora Liberians to invest in Liberia -As Pres. Weah Wants Liberians Own Factories

President George Manneh Weah has announced his government willingness to make available United States 10 or 12 Million Dollars for Diaspora Liberians to partake in the ongoing development and economy empowerment in the country.

President Weah made the disclosure on Thursday January 3, 2019, at his famous Jamaica Resort during a meeting with over 300 Diaspora Liberians representing various Liberian groups from USA, Europe, Asia and Africa.

The Liberian leader told the gathering that his government is committed to supporting Liberian initiatives especially in an effort to creating a competition through Liberian own companies of various business interest if they are to stand ready in competing with foreign businesses in Liberia.

He said once he could receive a commitment along with a business proposal the Liberians in the Diaspora who be willing to unite and partnership, the Liberian government under his leadership will work with relevant governmental institutions to make available USD 10-12 Million for the establishment of factories by Diaspora Liberians in Liberia.

President Weah said by Liberians investing in their motherland, will help create the opportunities for more jobs creation, employment opportunities and competition in the growth of the Liberian economy.

President Weah said he looks up the time in which Liberians will have the opportunity through the government’s support for economy empowerment to establish companies that would compete with foreign investments in the country.

President Weah concluded that once there is an expression of commitment and honesty in working in the interest of Liberia, his government will not delay in recommending that Liberian group has to access the loan for the establishment of companies that help to boom the Liberian economy.
