EPA Defends Boss -Terms Calls for LACC Probe mere with-hunt, character Assassination

The Environmental Protection Agency(EPA) has come out strongly to stand by its boss, Professor Wilson K. Tarpeh, against calls for his probe by the Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission(LACC) to account for his stewardship at the Ministry of Commerce where he formerly served as Minister as is being instigated by the Liberia CSOs Anti-Corruption(LCACC).

The agency on Tuesday, June 8, 2021 issued a press release to dismiss and condemn the agitation by the civil society group, terming it as a sponsored campaign that seeks to undermine the work Prof. Tarpeh is doing at EPA. The release added that the call is not only out of order, but is a malicious allusion that doesn’t require any attention by the Liberia Anti-Commission Commission (LACC)

The release said it was pointless for Mr. James Koryor, speaking for the LCACC to rely on the General Auditing Commission (GAC), which has absolutely nothing in its finding that ties Prof. Tarpeh to any form of mismanagement or otherwise; and those calling for the probe are aware of this fact.

But the EPA thinks that the request coming on the back of a successful national event that has now ranked President George Manneh Weah as the only world leader after the United States of America leader to hold a national conference on Climate Change and the Environment, is a diabolical, devious, and inappropriate and insultingly silly attempt by Mr. Koryor, a paid agent hiding behind civil society to assassinate and undermine the massive gains of the EPA under Prof. Tarpeh’s astute management.

“The so-called letter seeking LACC probe of the EPA Boss is an ‘offensive and repugnant’ crusade based on falsehood and pettiness bankrolled by unscrupulous individuals who feel threatened by the remarkable gains made by the EPA under Prof. Tarpeh in the enhancement of the Government of Liberia’s Pro-poor Agenda Prosperity and Development (PAPD),” the EPA said in the release.

The EPA concluded its press release by warning Mr. Koryor and his group to refrain and desist from what it termed as  character assassination and willful attacks on its Executive Director and CEO.
