President George Manneh Weah has suspended for time indefinite, the Executive Director of the Environmental Protection Agency, Nathaniel Blamah, for repeatedly violating prescribed health protocols and endangering public health.
An Executive mansion release recalled that the EPA boss refused to adhere to the established health protocols set up at the Roberts International Airport to prevent the transmission of the Coronavirus disease.
The release said following the arrival of medical staff at his residence to take him for treatment, he again declined to board an ambulance, opting instead to follow the team with his private vehicle which is further violation of public health measures.
The President strongly warns all officials of government in particular and members of the general public to strictly abide by the directives of health officials as the country strives to contain coronavirus.
The President reiterated his call to all citizens and residents to comply with the directives of the health authorities in order for Liberia to contain the scourge.
He said “together we fought Ebola, and together we will fight the coronavirus”.
But an audio released on the social media by Dr. Blamah refuted the claims of breaching health protocols instituted by the government in the wake of the global outbreak of the COVID-19.
The Executive Director of EPA, in an audio podcast, has broken silence on his contraction of the CONVID-19 as the first case in Liberia, saying that the public was misinformed that he breached health protocols at the Roberts International Airport.
In his podcast, an audio recording which was obtained by The Analyst, Dr. Blamah explained that: I want to urge you guys to remain calm; I’m not doing anything out of protocol. I talked to the doctor, and the doctor advised that since I’m okay, to not create panic, I should drive myself to the hospital and the ambulance was going to drive behind me and we did just that.
He then wondered, “Why are you guys panicking, talk to Dr. Kateh, talk to Dr. Fallah, that’s what we agreed. And when they brought the ambulance in the community, the community members got concerned and started running behind it after even the health workers escorted me and I got in it.”
