MONROVIA – No doubt, Dr. Amos Claudius Sawyer was a man of letters. He was given to extraordinary power of eloquence and studiousness, which is why students of Literature and Philosophy braced themselves when there was an opportunity for them to be in his audience. He blended that ingrained gift with patriotism, peace and humility. Both his foes and Friends who tendered tributes following his passing in February this year were unanimous in the view that Liberia missed a true patriot, leader and an academic idol. Much was done, quickly by his admirers, to give him his flowers, including renaming a major college at the nation’s premier education facility, the University of Liberia, in his honor. Now, there comes an assembly of family members, followers and scholars further immortalizing him and his achievements in celebrating his 77th Birthday. The Analyst reports.
