CPP Rebukes Foya “Aggression” -Says Act “Utterly Reprehensible”

MONROVIA: In the wake of the “acts of aggression” which occurred between supporters of the ruling Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) and the Unity Party (UP) in Foya, Lofa County, the Collaborating Political Parties (CPP) has issued a strong worded condemnation describing the situation as utterly reprehensible adding that “Such actions contradict the very essence of a democratic society and threaten the stability and progress of our nation”.

In a press statement issued on Saturday, September 30, 2023 and signed by the Secretary General, Aloysius Toe, the party expressed empathy for the loss of lives and he many injured including the law enforcement officer during the unfortunate incident.

CPP said “violence has no place in our democracy, and we vehemently call for an immediate cessation of these acts that undermine the fabric of our nation”.

“We call upon the Liberian authorities to swiftly and impartially investigate these incidents, ensuring that those responsible face the full force of the law. Upholding justice and the rule of law is vital to preserving our democratic values”, CPP said.

The party strongly urged all political stakeholders to prioritize peace, unity, and respect during this critical juncture in the nation’s journey. It said Liberia deserves an atmosphere of peace and cooperation, where dialogue and understanding triumph over hatred and hostility

“The CPP stands united against any form of violence and remains steadfast in its commitment to promoting a peaceful electoral process. Liberia’s future hinges on our ability to engage in peaceful political discourse, showcasing to the world the strength and resilience of our democracy”, the statement concluded.
