A LECTURE DELIVERED TO THE POSITIVE THINKERS ORGANIZATION OF LIBERIA (P.O.T.O.L)

ON THE TOPIC: THE ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF A POSITIVE THINKER TOWARD NATIONAL DEVELOPMENT BY CLLR. TIAWAN SAYE GONGLOE

AT THE DUPORT ROAD JUNCTION ON NOVEMBER 29, 2025

My fellow Liberians — especially the young people gathered here today — the Positive Thinkers Organization of Liberia invited us here with a profound topic: “The Role and Responsibilities of a Positive Thinker Toward National Development.”

Before we go deep, let me tell you this truth:

Positive thinking is not wishful thinking.
Positive thinking is nation-building.

A positive thinker does not complain — he contributes.
A positive thinker does not blame — he acts.
A positive thinker does not destroy — he builds.

Throughout human history, the greatest positive thinkers were not those with armies or wealth. They were those whose minds were rooted in service, sacrifice, humility, justice, and love for humanity.

And among these, two stand above all:
Jesus Christ and Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).

Why?
Because they were the greatest positive thinkers the world has ever seen.

They believed in people.
They believed in transformation.
They believed in changing society through service.
Their leadership began in the mind — in a mind free from selfishness and full of purpose.

LET’S BEGING WITH JESUS CHRIST — THE POSITIVE THINKER WHO LED THROUGH SACRIFICE

Jesus had no army.
He had no wealth.
He had no political office.

But He possessed the most powerful spirit of positive transformation.

He fed the hungry.
He healed the sick.
He defended the oppressed.
He challenged injustice without seeking personal benefit.
He washed the feet of His followers to show that leadership is service.

Above all, Jesus taught that your mindset about others determines your destiny.

In Matthew 25, Jesus said:

“I was hungry and you did not feed me…
I was naked and you did not clothe me…
I was sick and in prison and you did not visit me.”

When the people asked, “Lord, when did we see you like that?”
He answered:

“Whatever you did not do for the least of your brothers, you did not do for me.”

My people, Jesus conditioned entrance into heaven on how positively we treat fellow humans.
This is not just theology — it is the mindset that builds societies.

A positive thinker sees humanity in everyone.
And that is why Jesus changed the world.

2. PROPHET MUHAMMAD (PBUH) — THE POSITIVE THINKER WHO TRANSFORMED THROUGH HUMILITY AND JUSTICE

Prophet Muhammad began as a simple merchant.
No throne, no palace, no soldiers.

Yet his impact transformed nations.

Why?
Because he carried within him a positive mind — rooted in humility, compassion, discipline, and justice.

He lived among the poor.
He ate with the hungry.
He visited the sick.
He freed slaves.
He forgave enemies.

Even when he became a head of state of Medina in 622 AD,  he remained humble:

He mended his own sandals.
He swept his own floor.
He shared whatever he had.
He established justice even when it angered the powerful.

He taught a principle that every positive thinker must understand:

“The leader of a people is their servant.”

His message conquered hearts — not territories — because his thinking elevated humanity.

3. THE TIMELESS LAW OF POSITIVE THINKING AND LEADERSHIP

Whether you study the Bible, the Qur’an, history, or philosophy, you will find one truth:

Positive thinking produces positive leadership.

And negative thinking produces destruction.

Listen:

  1. Leaders who take will fail.
  1. Leaders who steal will fall.
  2. Leaders who give will rise.
  3. Leaders who serve will earn loyalty forever.

A positive thinker puts people first.
A selfish thinker puts himself first.

Look at Mandela — 27 years in prison, yet he came out thinking peace.
Look at Gandhi — who replaced violence with positive resistance.
Look at Mother Teresa — who lived only for the poor.

These were positive thinkers — and they changed nations.

4. THE ROLE OF A POSITIVE THINKER IN NATIONAL DEVELOPMENT

If today’s leaders embraced even 5% of the mindset of Jesus and Muhammad, Liberia would change overnight.

A nation develops when its thinkers:

  1. Put public interest above private pockets
  2. Use power to protect, not to exploit
  3. Share sacrifices, not hoard benefits
  4. Make decisions for the next generation, not the next election
  5. Walk among the people, not above them

A positive thinker does not ask, “What can Liberia do for me?”
He asks:
“What can I do for Liberia?”

A positive thinker becomes a generator of ideas, a carrier of solutions, a builder of peace, and an example of integrity.

Such a person becomes a leader even without a title.

5. THE RESPONSIBILITY OF EVERY ONE OF US

Young people of Duport Road — hear me well:

Selflessness is not only for prophets.
It is a duty for every citizen.

National development begins with positive thinking.
And positive thinking begins with putting others first.

Leadership starts the moment you choose to serve —
your family, your community, your country.

Every time you act with honesty, kindness, justice, discipline, humility, and compassion, you become a positive force for Liberia.

CONCLUSION: POSITIVE THINKING IS THE POWER THAT BUILDS NATIONS

Jesus and Muhammad did not seek power — they sought people.
They did not chase wealth — they chased justice.
They did not dominate others — they disciplined themselves.

Their greatness began with how they thought —
and that thinking reshaped the world.

Positive thinkers transform communities.
Positive thinkers build nations.
Positive thinkers inspire generations.

A leader who serves is a leader who succeeds.
A nation led by such thinkers will always rise.

And Liberia needs such thinkers today —men and women with clean hearts, clean minds, and clean hands.

Let us remember always:

GOVERNMENT IS A PLACE TO SERVE, NOT TO STEAL.

A BETTER LIBERIA IS POSSIBLE WITH SELFLESS LEADERS
