MONROVIA – The Liberty Party has come out to defend Senator Abe Darius Dillon against what it considers baseless allegations made by members of the Movement for Democracy and Reconstruction (MDR). The MDR had, the LP says, falsely accused Senator Dillon of involvement in the passing of late Senator Prince Y. Johnson and claimed his criticisms of Minister Cooper Kruah were driven by tribal animus. The Analyst reports.
The Liberty Party strongly has condemned what it described as the “baseless and inflammatory allegations being circulated by certain members of the Movement for Democracy and Reconstruction (MDR), falsely alleging that Senator Abe. Darius Dillon had involvement in the passing of the late Senator Prince Y. Johnson and that his constructive criticisms of Minister Cooper Kruah are driven by tribal animus.”
“These claims are not only false, they are dangerous, slanderous, defamatory, and a deliberate attempt to distract Senator Dillon from his ongoing advocacy for justice, accountability, and job protection for the Liberian workers,” the party asserts, claiming that Senator Dillon’s principled call for the establishment of a War and Economic Crimes Court is rooted in the Liberian people’s legitimate demand for justice and national healing.
“His advocacy has never targeted any individual or ethnic group; rather, it reflects a commitment to end impunity, strengthen the rule of law, and ensure accountability for past atrocities,” the party said, adding that medical authorities and family members have confirmed the late Senator Johnson’s passing as due to natural causes.
“It is deeply regrettable that some individuals, after publicly accusing one another in Nimba and pointing fingers at the office of the President, now seek to politicize his passing by launching unfounded and malicious attacks on Senator Dillon,” the Liberty party further defended their ranging official.
“To weaponize the death of a respected statesman for political gain is a grave dishonor to his legacy and a betrayal of the values of truth, unity, and respect that should always guide our national discourse,” it also stated.
According to the Liberty Party, Senator Dillon’s recent concerns regarding the Ministry of Labor’s decisions and performance are policy-driven and motivated by his commitment to ensuring that Liberians are prioritized in employment opportunities within their own country.
It said Senator Dillon has consistently championed the rights of Liberian workers and emphasized the importance of transparent, merit-based employment practices.
“Minister Kruah, like any public servant, is subject to scrutiny and accountability. Anyone who misconstrues that scrutiny as tribal prejudice or political hostility is perpetrating a terrible injustice against the Liberian people,” said the party, adding that it is particularly troubling that genuine concerns about the long-standing inefficiencies at the Ministry of Labor and the challenges that have persisted across administrations are now being met with personal attacks and tribal rhetoric rather than substantive policy responses.
The Liberty Party urged the Ministry’s leadership and the MDR to focus on solutions that improve the livelihoods of Liberian workers instead of encouraging divisive narratives that threaten national cohesion.
“Attempts to intimidate or vilify Senator Dillon for exercising his legislative duty to hold public officials accountable are unacceptable and contrary to democratic values. Liberia’s progress depends on leaders who speak boldly for their people, not on those who silence voices of reason with fear or tribal propaganda.
The Liberty Party called on all political actors, especially members of the MDR, to elevate the national conversation beyond tribal and political sentiments, indicating that Liberia’s future depends on honest, respectful, and evidence-based dialogue.
“Sowing seeds of discord and division through false accusations undermines our democracy and delays the progress our people deserve,” the party said, affirming that it “stands firmly with Senator Dillon as he remains unwavering in his commitment to justice, transparency, and the protection of Liberian interests. No amount of slander will deter him from his mission to serve the Liberian people with integrity and courage.”
