The ECOWAS Parliament has nominated Liberian lawmaker Edwin Melvin Snowe to participate in the solemn inauguration ceremony of Mamadi Doumbouya, President of the Republic of Guinea.
The designation was communicated in an official letter dated January 14, 2026, from the ECOWAS Parliament headquarters in Abuja. According to the letter, Snowe was nominated by Hadja Mémounatou Ibrahima, President of the ECOWAS Parliament, to attend the ceremony scheduled for January 17, 2026, in Conakry.
Snowe, a member of the ECOWAS Parliament, is expected to represent the regional legislative body during the official inauguration, which marks a significant political milestone for Guinea and the wider West African sub-region.
According to the communication, the ECOWAS Parliament will fully cover Snowe’s travel expenses and provide a daily subsistence allowance for the duration of the mission, to be paid via bank transfer. The arrangement reflects standard parliamentary protocol for official regional assignments.
The ECOWAS Parliament also requested that Snowe confirm his availability for the mission through the institution’s Secretariat, providing official contact details for coordination and logistical support. Additional assistance, the letter noted, would be available through the Parliament’s Protocol Office.
The nomination highlights ECOWAS’ continued use of parliamentary diplomacy to foster regional cooperation and solidarity during key political events among member states.
