The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI) says a test conducted by its National Standards Laboratory (NSL) on the Ceres 100% Juice manufactured by Pioneers Foods Groceries Limited in South Africa shows that the product is not contaminated, neither was any hazardous substance found during the investigation.
The Ministry following public alert about the product containing levels of mycotoxin-patulin, launched an immediate investigation into the matter and established that the Ceres 100% Juice is fit for human consumption.
The conducted laboratory test, subjecting the sample of the Ceres 100% Juice to both physio-chemical and micro biological analysis indicates that the product doesn’t contain mycotoxin-patulin, a bacteria that causes contamination.
Based on the findings from the test conducted by the Commerce Ministry’s National Standards Laboratory (NSL), the Ceres 100% Juice has been cleared by the Ministry for sale on the Liberian market.
The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI) in a release issued yesterday, commended the public for their continuous support and more assured the Liberian people of its commitment to ensuring that products on the local market meet the acceptable standards.
