Centrism Movement Backs Pres. Boakai – Promises to Bolster Government Efforts

MONROVIA – The Liberia Political Centrism Movement (LPCM), a newly mobilized force of professionals and political thinkers, has formally thrown its support behind President Joseph N. Boakai, lauding his administration’s approach to governance, national healing, and development.

Speaking on behalf of the group, the leader, Counselor Kanio Bai Gbala informed the Liberian Leader that the LPCM’s decision was the result of “keen observation over a long period of time” of President Boakai’s efforts to unite the nation and set it on a clear course for development. The Movement found it “imperative” not only to endorse the President’s style but also to offer to assist in bolstering the Government’s efforts.

The LPCM is described as a non-partisan assembly, though a majority of its members hail from the former ruling party, the Congress for Democratic Change (CDC). It also includes individuals with no specific political affiliation.

“Politics should be conducted in a matured manner, should move country forward, and put the country first,” Counselor Gbala asserted, outlining the core belief shared by the Movement’s membership.

In a striking commentary on the current political climate, the LPCM Leader passionately argued that opposition should not be “furiously bitter” to the extent that it undermines the essence of national healing and togetherness.

He stressed a constructive vision, stating that opposition is at its best when it is “centered on objective, good intentioned and practical interventions bearing the singular purpose of advancing the cause of the nation.”

The delegation members reinforced their chairman’s presentation, reiterating their deep concern for the direction and forward march of the country and assuring the President of their readiness to collaborate in every endeavor to push the government’s development agenda.

In receiving the Movement’s support, President Boakai expressed his gratitude and shared the Movement’s sentiments. He emphasized that his administration is “not preoccupied with partisan considerations” but is singularly focused on the overall advancement of the country.

The President treated the group of young professionals to a lecture on his long history of experiences, demonstrating that his primary concern is always focused on pulling Liberians together to work in concert and achieve the nation’s development goals.

The dialogue concluded with a symbolic gesture of allegiance as the LPCM presented the President with an LPCM t-shirt and cap, which he received with gratitude. The event marks a significant public alignment of a cross-section of political professionals with the new administration’s focus on national cohesion and mature governance.
