As Dr. Togba-Nah Tipoteh marks his 85th birthday, THE ANALYST proudly joins countless Liberians and friends around the world in celebrating a towering statesman, distinguished academic, development expert, human rights advocate, and one of Liberia’s foremost champions of multiparty democracy and social justice.
For more than five decades, Dr. Tipoteh has stood as an unwavering voice for the oppressed, the marginalized, and the voiceless. Through the founding of the Movement for Justice in Africa (MOJA) in the 1970s, he helped ignite a national consciousness that challenged injustice, inequality, and authoritarianism, laying a firm foundation for the democratic values and political freedoms Liberians continue to cherish today.
His life’s work has been defined by an unyielding commitment to the rule of law, good governance, accountability, equality, and the dignity of every human being. Even today, his principled voice remains a moral compass, reminding our nation that democracy flourishes only where justice prevails and the rights of every citizen are respected.
