Bility Welcomes Boakai Action On Ganta-Executive Order Advances Long-Running Land Dispute

MONROVIA – A long-standing land dispute in Ganta, Nimba County, has taken a new turn following the establishment of a technical committee mandated to implement the government’s resolution of the matter. Representative Musa Hassan Bility of Nimba County District #7 has publicly welcomed Executive Order No. 160 issued by President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, describing the decision as a significant step toward restoring stability in affected communities. The lawmaker, who previously chaired the presidential commission tasked with investigating the dispute, expressed hope that the new committee will finally translate past recommendations into concrete action. The development is expected to revive efforts aimed at achieving lasting peace and legal clarity in the area, as THE ANALYST reports.

Representative Musa Hassan Bility of Nimba County District #7 has expressed appreciation to President Joseph Nyuma Boakai for issuing Executive Order No. 160 establishing a Technical Committee to enforce and implement the presidential decision regarding the longstanding Ganta land dispute.

In a statement of appreciation, Representative Bility described the President’s action as a critical step toward resolving an issue that has persisted for decades and has affected peace, stability, and development in Nimba County.

“I wish to extend my sincere appreciation to His Excellency Joseph Nyuma Boakai, President of the Republic of Liberia, for issuing Executive Order No. 160, constituting a Technical Committee to enforce and implement the Presidential decision regarding the longstanding land dispute in Ganta, Nimba County,” Bility said.

According to the Nimba County lawmaker, the establishment of the committee signals renewed commitment by the government to address the dispute and move toward a durable solution.

“This decision represents an important step toward addressing an issue that has lingered for decades and has affected peace, stability, and development in our county,” he stated.

Representative Bility also reflected on his previous role as Chair of the Presidential Commission that was mandated to investigate the dispute and propose recommendations aimed at resolving the conflict.

“As the former Chair of the Presidential Commission that was mandated to investigate the dispute and propose a pathway toward resolution, I am particularly encouraged to see renewed action taken to move this process forward,” he noted.

According to him, the work of the commission was carried out with the expectation that its findings and recommendations would lay the foundation for a lasting settlement of the dispute.

“The work of that Commission was undertaken with the hope that it would provide the foundation for a lasting solution for the people of Nimba County,” Bility stated.

“I therefore commend the President for taking this decisive step to ensure that the recommendations and prior decisions relating to this matter are implemented.”

The lawmaker further assured the Government of Liberia of his continued cooperation and support as the process unfolds.

“I also wish to assure the Government of Liberia of my full cooperation and support as this process moves forward,” he said.

“We look forward to working constructively with the newly established committee and all stakeholders involved.”

Representative Bility also used the opportunity to encourage members of the newly appointed technical committee to carry out their duties with fairness and professionalism.

“At the same time, I encourage all members appointed to serve on this committee to carry out their responsibilities with fairness, professionalism, and a deep commitment to the collective interest of Nimbains,” he urged.

He expressed hope that the committee’s work would lead to lasting peace in the affected communities and strengthen trust among residents of Nimba County.

“It is my sincere hope that the work of this committee will finally bring lasting peace to the affected communities, strengthen trust among our people, and allow Nimba County to continue its journey toward stability, unity, and development,” Bility stated.

Concluding his remarks, the lawmaker emphasized that the people of Nimba County deserve peace and reconciliation after years of dispute over land ownership in the Ganta area.

“Our people deserve peace, and it is my prayer that this effort will help restore harmony and make life easier for the citizens of Nimba County,” he said.
