MONROVIA – As one of Liberia’s youngest and most progressive political parties, the Citizens Movement for Change (CMC) is gaining momentum across the country and in the diaspora. Led by Musa Hassan Bility, the party prides itself for being committed to bringing about positive change in Liberia. Biliity, the Political Leader spoke at a gathering in Philadelphia, USA, on September 27, 2025, drumming up change rhetoric as The Analyst reports.
The Political Leader of the Citizens Movement for Change (CMC) was in the United States recently where he spoke a group of Liberians on the urgent need for political change, as the country nosedives under the Unity Party administration.
Speaking late last month, Bilility said he had every confidence in the capacity of his CMC to deliver Liberia from the scourge of political failure and neglect of the people of the country.
“I am determined that come October 2029, change will come to Liberia,” he told diasporic Liberians in Philadelphia, USA, on September 27, 2025. “The records of the people are clear, and we know what each party is capable of doing. The choice before us today is whether or not we Liberians are prepared to chart a new course for our country.”
Bility criticized the current economic policies being implemented by the ruling Unity Party, saying, “We have an economic policy that is in foreign hands. When a Liberian entrepreneur raises money and decides to give back to the people, they’re accused of making too much money. Meanwhile, those who mismanage billions of dollars are let off the hook. That’s not the Liberia we want to build.”
He also criticized the lack of development in the country, something he contributed to lawmakers who he said can’t even fix their own counties, but are quick to shut down businesses that are creating jobs and opportunities for the people.”
“That’s the kind of Liberia we have, and that’s why we need change,” the CMC political leader asserted.
Bility expressed confidence that the people of Liberia have already made up their minds about the Unity Party. According to him, the UP has violated every principle of Liberian laws, abused the country, and shown no regard for human rights, rule of law, or fiscal discipline.
“The country is in free-fall, but they think they’re doing well,” Bility opined, criticizing the former ruling Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) and ruling Unity Party for their lack of transparency and accountability.
He alleged that the two parties – CDC and Unity Party – have ever wanted to face the Liberian people.
Joseph Boakai has never had a single press conference in 20 months, Bility noted, adding that “If parties were human beings, I’d say CDC and Unity Party are twins, with Unity Party being far worse because they claim to have experience in government.”
Bility emphasized the need for Liberians to take ownership of their country.
He told the diasporic citizens that those in the country and even out know that the political and economic systems of the country “tell us that if you stop sending money to Liberia, the country will collapse.
“It’s time for us to take responsibility for our own country. That’s why the CMC will introduce a law to allow diaspora Liberians to participate in elections, as mandated by our constitution,” he further told them.
He avowed his preparation to be the next president of Liberia, bragging: “I am more prepared than anyone who dares to put their hand up today. I challenge all of them to a debate; I will leave them behind me there. Don’t ever vote for anybody who is not even willing to tell you what they’re going to do for you.”
Bility said Liberians need a new kind of leadership, one that is transparent, accountable, and committed to building a better Liberia for all.
“The CMC is committed to bringing about positive change in Liberia and is calling on all Liberians, both at home and in the diaspora, to join hands with them to build a better future for their country,” he said.
Continuing, Bility asserted that getting the right people as parliamentarians, getting the right senators, getting the right representatives, getting a better economic policy that is not in the foreign people’s hands, and that does not reject a Liberian entrepreneur who raises money and decides to give back to the people is the plan and desire of CMC for this country.
