ANC Spreads Christmas Joy to Children, Families -Political Leader Marks Christmas with Gifts, Games, and Hope

MONROVIA – The Alternative National Congress (ANC), led by its Political Leader Alexander Benedict Cummings, on Christmas Day hosted a special celebration aimed at bringing joy and hope to children, particularly those from underserved communities. The event, held on Wednesday, December 25, 2025, brought together hundreds of children and families for a day of food, gifts, music, and games in the spirit of Christmas. As THE ANALYST reports, the ANC Political Leader told attendees “Let’s have fun and enjoy ourselves”.

The Christmas party created a festive atmosphere that reflected the season’s message of giving, unity, and compassion. According to organizers, the initiative was designed to ensure that children—especially those from less privileged backgrounds—experienced happiness on one of the most significant days on the Christian calendar.

Speaking at the gathering, ANC Chairman Horatio Gould said the program was inspired by a deliberate decision to place children at the center of the celebration.

“We need people we can get involved, and we need to provide for the children,” Gould said.

“Mr. Cummings and his wife said, ‘Yes, let’s take time and do something for the children, particularly in this area.’”

Gould noted that the initiative would not be limited to one community, adding that similar celebrations would be extended to other areas so more children could benefit.

Throughout the program, children took part in various activities, including interactive games that required them to identify Mr. Cummings and his wife from the crowd—sparking laughter and excitement among participants. Organizers carefully guided the children, ensuring their comfort and encouraging them to fully enjoy the celebration.

“We are very happy to be here,” Gould told the children. “Let’s have fun and enjoy ourselves.”

Mrs. Theresa Cummings delivered a brief but heartfelt message, reminding the children of the importance of good behavior, respect, and obedience to parents and guardians—not only during the Christmas season, but throughout the year.

“You must be good all year round, not just on Christmas,” she said. “You must listen to your adults, because they know what’s best.”

Her remarks were warmly received, with many children eagerly raising their hands when asked if they had behaved well during the year.

In his address, Alexander Benedict Cummings emphasized that the celebration reflected a broader commitment to children as the foundation of Liberia’s future.

Quoting former President William R. Tolbert, he reminded the gathering that “young people are precious jewels” and represent the nation’s hope.

“We care for you. We love you,” Cummings told the children.

“We want to create an environment where you can go to school, where you can learn, where you can have a meal every day, and where you can represent the future of our country.”

He also thanked members of the organizing committee and volunteers who worked behind the scenes to ensure the success of the event.

Celebrating the True Meaning of Christmas

Beyond the gifts and entertainment, speakers said the gathering served as a reminder of the deeper meaning of Christmas—the celebration of love, generosity, and the birth of Jesus Christ.

As music played and children danced, the event stood as a moment of shared joy and community solidarity, highlighting how child-focused humanitarian gestures can bring hope and light during the holiday season. Organizers said similar initiatives would continue as part of ongoing efforts to support children and families in communities across the country.
