MONROVIA – The Ministry of Labour has strongly rejected an allegation made by Spoon FM CEO Stanton Witherspoon that Labour Minister Hon. Cllr. Cooper W. Kruah purchased a USD90,000 vehicle in violation of the PPCC Act.
In a press release signed by Deputy Director of Communications and Public Affairs, Mr. E. Frederick Baye, the Ministry clarified that the vehicle in question, a Ford Everest XLS 4×4 Petrol 10 Speed Transmission, was purchased through the PPCC procurement process and the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning at a cost of USD45,000.
The release provided the official purchase invoice particulars, including the invoice number #1424 from Prestige Motors Company on Bushrod Island. According to the Ministry, the transaction was initiated by Minister Kruah’s request to President Joseph Nyumah Boakai for an official car to facilitate his work in the labour sector and effectively implement the Government ‘ARREST Agenda’, with labour transformation and creation of jobs for Liberians as the core values.
The Ministry challenged Mr. Witherspoon of Spoon FM to provide evidence to support his claim, citing the transparency and accountability policy of the current government.
