Academic Activities Begin at UL Wednesday -Following meeting among Stakeholders

MONROVIA: The state run University of Liberia has announced that normal academic activities will begin at the institution on Wednesday, March 6, 2024 following several meetings by the University of Liberia Faculty Association (ULFA) and the University of Liberia Staff Association (ULSA) with other stakeholders including the University of Liberia Administration (UL), members of the UL Board of Trustees (BoT) and the Government of Liberia (GOL).

According to a press release from UL and signed by Cllr. Norris Tweah, Vice President of University

Relations, among other things, the UL Administration has met a number of demands of ULFA, including the payment of part-time instructors. The payment of part-timers, which began a week ago, has significantly progressed, with many part-time instructors acknowledging that they have received payment alerts that funds have been deposited into their personal accounts.

“For members of the University of Liberia Staff Association (ULSA), the UL Administration has set up a special joint committee comprising of members of ULSA, ULFA and the UL Administration to review and address the issue of salary disparity among staff across the University employment.

“At the same time, in preparation for the reopening of the University, the UL Administration will undertake a two-day general clean-up exercise on its Capitol Hill and Fendall campuses, beginning tomorrow, Monday and Tuesday of this week.

“Meanwhile, the UL Administration is pleased to announce that the Board of Trustees of the University

of Liberia has elected a new code of officers. Those elected to leadership include Senator Numene T. H. Bartekwa, Chairperson; Rev. Dr. Charles Boayue, Co-Chair; Mr. Martin W. Pennie, Secretary; and Hon. Dixon W. Seboe, Treasurer”, the release concluded.
