CEPRES University Graduates 90 -1st Convocation Awards 5o Certificates, 40 Degrees

The main campus of the Center for Environmental & Public Health Research (CEPRES) International University (CIU) in Gbarnga, Bong County, comes live on Saturday, February 8, 2020, when the University will host its first commencement convocation at which time it is expected to graduate more than ninety students.

The Dean of Admission and Records of  the University, Moses K. N. Tommie, disclosed that the graduates will come from its campuses around the country, saying 50 students are obtaining certificates in various disciplines, while 40 students are graduating from the Undergraduate Program in Gbarnga, Lofa  and Monrovia.

Mr. Tommie disclosed that those students who have been conferred or awarded degrees by CEPRES International University in distinct academic disciplines are students who have been academically examined and have satisfactorily gone through the ranks and files of the University’s academic curricular activities in line with best international academic standards and practices.

He further noted that as part of CEPRES University’s mission to produce more qualified and knowledgeable Liberia professionals in different specialized studies, the institution remains committed to providing quality educational services and fostering a 21st Global Century education in the Country.

This first commencement convocation is under the watchful eyes of Dr. George Ishiekwene, President of the CEPRES University.

Meanwhile, Prof. Dr. Elis Owusu-Dabo, Dean of the School of Public Health of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in Kumasi, the Republic of Ghana, will serve as the Speaker of the first Commencement Convocation of the University’s convocation in Bong County.

This occasion is expected to be honored by the chairman and members of the Board of Trustee of the CEPRES University, former faculty and staff of the University, high profile Government officials of the Republic of Liberia, officials and members of the Bong County Legislative Caucus, parents and guardians, families and friends of the graduates.

CEPRES was established in November 2014 by Dr. Mogana S. Flomo, Jr., and received recognition from the Government of Liberia to operate in the country on February 10, 2015.

To date, the institution has had the opportunity to recruit more than 500 young Liberians that are learning skills in environment and health sciences.

CEPRES graduated the first 15 students in February, 2016 with certificates. In March 2016, they had the first International Environmental Research Conference in Gbarnga, and the conference was attended by both national and international guests, including professors from some of their partner universities and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Liberia.

After a series of thorough investigations and scrutiny, Liberia’s Commission on Higher Education accredited CEPRES International University in 2019. The Commission’s grants CIU the accreditation after searching the University’s campuses in Monrovia and Bong County.

During the processes, officials from the Commission assessed the University facilities, qualification of personnel and other facilities in the County.
